Marian Muthui is a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Graduate Researcher at MIT Media Lab in the Lifelong Kindergarten (LLK) group. Her research is focused on exploring the role creative learning plays in the future of work in Africa.
She is the founder of Mekatilili, which is a learning initiative that provides a platform for Kenyan youth to enhance technical skills through creative learning approaches that strive to empower learners and to enable access to broader job opportunities.
Marian holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Nairobi and previously, she worked for three years at General Electric (GE) Healthcare as a biomedical engineer and later running a makerspace at the International School of Kenya (ISK).
She is experienced in product design and development, digital fabrication, manufacturing production, human-centered design and design research.
